2010-01-01 Ski in Lake Tahoe

To Lake Tahoe! We left Mountain View early on January 1st. The route we took was Fwy 101 South --> Hwy 237 --> Fwy 880 North --> Fwy 680 North --> Fwy 80 East --> Hwy 50 East. As we merged on Fwy 80, we decided to stop at McDonald for breakfast. Eating McDonald makes me feel like I'm on a road trip.. So naturally, I was positive about stuffing myself with fast food at the world's largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants. Here's one happy face.

Adjacent to McDonald was a convenience store. A students-friendly store it was...

We arrived at Sierra @ Tahoe around 11:30 and decided to go only for a half day. As we were waiting for the system to allow us to get half-day tickets, we found the tiniest bottles of Redbull... A Redbull shot!

The weather was not welcoming on the first day of our ski trip. After one hour skiing / snowboarding, we were back at the lodge for getting a cup of hot chocolate and a mask for Zach.

The blue sky was above us the next day. Though the snow was icy and the runs were crowded with people, we enjoyed the great views from the top of the mountains. Zach seemed happy with his new face (though I couldn't really tell his emotions under his mask.. ^^*)

Trees were covered in snow and made beautiful sculptures. Zach did not turn into a living sculpture..YET..

Seeing the contract from the top of the mountains was amazing. Over Zach's shoulders was the state of Nevada.

The gondola closes at 3:30, some lifts close at 4:00, and the others at 4:30. We took Sky Express one last time and took the Ridge Run, the blue run for the intermediates. Zach has improved a lot and can take the blues now. He even CAN STOP for pictures!
